Patton lives in Massachusetts with his owner, Todd.

Patton is a nice-looking boy with a wonderful easy-going temperament. He gets along well with other dogs, both male and female. Patton has many nice things about him, a beautiful topline, gorgeous coat, good substance, and short in loin. One of his strengths, however, is his strong movement which helped him garner his AKC Conformation title rather quickly.

Here are some of Patton’s successes:

Finished his Championship in 5 weekends, with 3 majors, at just under 10 months of age.
First weekend out after earning his Championship took Best of Breed over specials at just under a year of age.
At 15 months of age, he made the first cut for Best of Breed at the 2014 ACC National Show Specialty.
At 25 months of age, he was awarded a Group 4 placement at an AKC all-breed show.
At 27 months of age, he was awarded a Group 3 placement at an AKC all-breed show.
2017 Westminister Kennel Club Award of Merit.
Currently has 3 of 4 passes for his HRC title

Fen

Size: 22″| Weight: 60 lbs.| Color: Medium Red-Brown| Coat: Very thick with ample texture

Fen lives in Georgia with her owner, Laurea Griggs.

Fen is very much like her grandmother, Morgan, in that she’s a very happy-go-lucky girl with an amazing temperament. She has never meet a stranger and she’s very out-going and friendly. She gets along well with other dogs both male and female.

Fen is an athletic and versatile girl with great trainability. She’s very birdy, a great marker with good drive and control. She’s quiet and steady at the line and in the blind. She’s a great companion as well – friendly and outgoing wtih a nice ‘off-switch’, relaxed and easy going in the house. Fen is currently training for her Senior and Seasoned titles. She’s been on ducks, quail, chukkars and pheasant.

Conformationally, Fen is sound and balanced. She finished her AKC Conformation Championship quickly and easily with 4 major wins.

Fen also has titles in hunt tests, obedience, rally, barn hunt and will be competing in agility soon. Here are a few of Fen’s accomplishments thus far:

Won the 4-6 month old puppy stakes at the 2013 National Field Trial Specialty.
Earned her UKC Started Retriever title, by going 4 for 4, at 9 months of age.
Earned her Junior Hunter title at 17 months of age.
Earned her Therapy Dog Title (THD)
Earned her IABCA (International) conformation title in one weekend.
Earned her AKC conformation championship with 4 majors at 15 months of age.
Earned qualifying legs towards her Beginners Novice Obedience (BN) title each time she entered.
Earned qualifying legs towards her Rally Novice (RN) title each time she entered.
Earned qualifying legs towards her CD title each time she entered.
Took 4th in a very competitive 12-18 mos. class a the 2014 American Chesapeake National Show Specialty.
Earned qualifying legs towards her Rally Advanced (RA) title each time she entered.
Earned qualifying legs towards her Rally Advanced Excellence (RE) title each time she entered. (She earned her RA and RE titles the same weekend).
Earned her barn hunt title her first weekend attempting the endeavor with two high in trials.

We look forward to watching Fen grow up and see her do some fun things in her future.

: SHR CoolWater’s Fly Me To The Moon – Gabby

Gabby is 23″, 72 lbs. and dark sedge. Her coat is very course, very short and thick.

She resides in Mississippi and is co-owned with Kevin & Pam Goodrum and Connie Colvin of Alabama. She is primarily a hunting companion.

Gabby is highly intelligent and very active. She is proving herself to be easily trainable and she picks up on concepts well. She is a fast and stylish retriever with good marking ability. Gabby earned her UKC Started Hunting Retriever title (SHR) by going 4 for 4.

Temperament wise Gabby is very friendly and social.

Conformation wise, Gabby has many nice attributes – beautiful head with little ears/nice ear set, nice topline, great depth of chest and an underline which many Chesapeakes lack. Gabby has shown limitedly in AKC shows. She currently has 10 points (including a major).

She will periodically continue running hunt tests and showing to finalize her championship and we will update the website with her progress.

Great Hunt: South Carolina – “Cali”

I love getting photos of the dogs. Today, I touched base with one of the pup owners (which I often do) and I received this great note and photo.

“Had a big day….. Opener for ducks and dove. She strolled through two limit of ducks this am and an afternoon limit of dove.”

Funny, some people think a show dog can’t hunt or that a hunting dog can’t show. We strive for good lookin’ dogs that can, hopefully, do both. Cali is from a litter that currently has 3 AKC Champions (and one more to be titled in 2013).

: SHR Jessie’s On Her Way CD, JH

Jessie is retired at 12 years of age. She’s a beautiful sedge (red) colored Chesapeake. She’s at the lower end of the Chesapeake standard at about 22″ to the shoulder and 60 lbs. However, don’t let her small size fool you – she’s a retrieving fiend.

To know Jessie is to love Jessie — that’s what everyone says. She is happy-go-lucky, takes everything in stride and is happiest when working in the field but she adapts well to home-life.

Her willingness to please and eagerness to learn makes her fun to train — a little praise does wonders and really keeps her up, up, up. She’s a busy dog that often needs a job to do. She’s very inquisitive and if you don’t have a job for her, she will often find one on her own.

Jessie loves to talk, and although she doesn’t ‘roo’ as many Chessie do, she does smile and will often give a full-Chessie grin when she’s happy to see you.

Jessie obtained her AKC Junior Hunter (JH) and UKC Started Hunting Retriever (SHR) titles with qualifying passes each time she ran — all within a two month span and with very limited training. She also easily obtained her AKC Obedience Companion Dog (CD) title.

In 2008, Jessie was bred with CH Pondhollow BroadWater Bear SH. This breeding resulted in two puppies – a male (Risk, which we kept) and a female (Noelle, who went to LongCove Chesapeakes in GA).

I once mentioned to a good friend, a field trainer, “if I ever get another dog like Jessie…” He paused, looked at me and said “There will never be another dog like Jessie. Jessie is special.” I tend to agree. I doubt I’ll ever have another quite like her.
