CoolWater's SuperNova

Training Day: Tallahassee, FL

Today, I received some wonderful photos that were taken of Risk and Nova during a training day. It was so nice for someone to go out of their way to make copies, put them on disk and mail them to me – as a bit of a surprise. I thought I’d share and I hope you enjoy them as I do.

Show Report: Tallahassee, FL

It was a good weekend at the dog shows.

Friday, Risk,  CoolWater’s Out On A Limb, took Winners Dog and Best of Winners for 2 points. Nova, CoolWater’s SuperNova, took Winners Bitch and Best Opposite Sex for a point.

Saturday, Risk took Winners Dog, Best of Winners for another 2 points and Nova took Winners Bitch, Best Opposite Sex for a point.

Sunday, Nova took Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best Opposite Sex, which earned her her second major win.

Risk only needs one point to obtain his show championship and Nova only 5 points.

We’re very proud of them!

Hunt Test Report: Risk

I’ve been meaning to post these. Here are a couple of photos that I received on Risk – who went hunting a couple of days in December. Although the photos are similar, they are from two different hunts. I hear he’s doing very well in the blind and that he keeps getting better and better with each hunt.

Show Reports: Huntsville, AL

In Huntsville, AL: under breeder/judge Nathanial Horn

Nova” – CoolWater’s SuperNova – took Best of Breed, earning herself a 3 pt. major. This was Nova’s second weekend in the ring. Her first weekend, she earned herself herself 2 pts. by going Winners Bitch each day.

Risk” – SHR CoolWater’s Out On a Limb JH – took Best Opposite Sex, earning himself a 3 pt. major as well. Risk currently has 10 points all earned by taking major wins.

It was a good weekend, indeed.

Jesse in the Show Ring

Show Report: American Chesapeake Club Supported Entry – Greenville, SC

This past weekend I went to Greenville, SC to attend a dog show. Normally, I don’t travel so far for dog shows but this weekend there was an American Chesapeake Club Supported Entry. Because of this, there was a much larger Chessie entry than ‘normal’ here in the South East. There were Chessies  from Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, the Carolina’s, Maryland and other places. In all, there were 20+ Chessies in the ring Friday through Sunday. Two “CoolWater” dogs were participating in the show, so I wanted to go and support them. Boy am I glad I went! We did quite well…

SHR CoolWater’s Out On A Limb JH aka “Risk”took Winners Dog (WD) for a 4 point major on Friday. Not only was he the only hunt test titled dog entered, but this was ONLY his second weekend showing! He now has both his majors needed towards his Championship.

 And…. we now have a new Champion….

CH CoolWater’s The Tide Is High aka “Jesse” was entered on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Jesse took Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major. On Sunday, Jesse not only took Winners Bitch and Best of Winners, for another 5 pt. major, but she also took Best Opposite Sex over Specials.  Jesse, with very limited showing, earned her Championship with her last three showings earning her two-5 pt. majors at a Supported weekend in South Carolina and a 4 pt. major at a regional Specialty in Maryland. Not too shabby for a dog not even two yet.

And to top it off — “Risk” and CoolWater’s Super Nova aka “Nova” received “clear” CERFs! A good weekend indeed.

Hunt Test Report – New JH title – Mississippi

SHR CoolWater's Out On a Limb JH

SHR CoolWater's Out On a Limb JH

I’m proud to report that “Risk” obtained his AKC Junior Hunter title this weekend in Mississippi. He was flawless the first day. The second day, he decided to add his own ‘style’ to the retrieves but in the end he got the job done.

Risk now has his UKC Started Hunting Retriever and AKC Junior Hunter titles. He also has one major in conformation. Onwards to Seasoned and Senior and obtaining that show Championship.

Congratulations to Connie on a job well done handling Risk to his Hunt Test titles!

Dock Dogs: Alabama

Nothing goes better together than a Chesapeake and water. Throw a little retrieving in the mix and you have Chessie heaven. Risk & Nova (both live in Alabama) have really taken a liking to the Dock Dogs sport!

Nova won the Junior Division this weekend with a jump of 18′ 4″ (she only needed a jump of 14’11”). Risk came in third in the Senior Division with his 18’6″ jump.

I’m quite proud of this jumping duo.

Risk's First Show Weekend

Risk's First Show Weekend

We’re proud to report that our boy Risk, co-owned and living with Connie Cotton, handled this weekend by Alyssa Payson, took Winners Dog for his first major under judge Eugene Blake!

This was Risk’s first weekend in the ring and Alyssa did a fantastic job with him.

What a good day!

Hunt Test Report: Upper Alabama – Connie & Risk earn their first two JH legs

Risk

Risk

In upper Alabama, Connie & Risk ran their first AKC Junior Hunter test this weekend. Saturday, after watching dog after dog fail, Connie sent me a text message with great concern and doubt that she and Risk would pass. However, they did great together and earned their first JH leg! Sunday, Risk did his marks flawlessly. Even so, Connie realized they have a few things to work on but in the end he earned his second leg. Whoo Hoo!

Congratulations, Connie & Risk! We’re so very proud of you two!

Hunt Test Report: Upper Alabama – New SHR

Risk obtains his SHR

CoolWater's Out On A Limb "Risk" obtains his UKC SHR title

Congratulations to Connie & Risk for obtaining their first  hunt test title together!

Risk obtained his UKC Started title this weekend at the upper Alabama hunt test. He did well, going 4 for 4.

Risk will be hunted over this winter by Connie’s husband, and Connie plans on working towards his AKC Junior Hunter title in December. He might be seen in the show ring sometime in 2011.

Risk received many compliments from the judges, as well as other Chesapeake (and also Lab) fanciers. I’m very proud of this team!
