Show Report: West Friendship, MD

GCH CoolWater's The Tide is High "Jesse"

It was a very good weekend in West Friendship, MD. Friday, “Jesse” won Best of Breed under judge Joe Purkhiser. I was very excited about this win. However, what’s even more exciting is that Mr. Purkhiser also gave her littermate “Oak” one of his first group wins several months back.  On Saturday, Jesse took the Select Bitch win and on Sunday, she again took Best of Breed under judge Nancy Cowley.

This was Jesse’s second weekend out this year. I look forward to reporting her achievements as she ventures forward.

Hunt Test Report: Risk

I’ve been meaning to post these. Here are a couple of photos that I received on Risk – who went hunting a couple of days in December. Although the photos are similar, they are from two different hunts. I hear he’s doing very well in the blind and that he keeps getting better and better with each hunt.

Jesse - CH CoolWater's the Tide is High

Show Report: West Friendship, MD

What a great weekend! Jesse was entered Saturday and Sunday in the shows in West Friendship, MD.

Saturday, Jesse (CH CoolWater’s the Tide is High) was entered in the regional specialty. She took the Select Bitch win under breeder judge, Mrs. JoAnn Colvin. This gave her another major (I do believe) towards her Grand Championship.

Sunday, she took BEST OF BREED, over many nice entries – including several specials – earning herself yet another major towards her Grand Championship.

If I counted correctly, I believe she might’ve earned her Grand Championship. If so, she earned it in 6 shows by taking a major win at each show. That’s awesome!

A huge thank you to Nicole Culotta with Golden Moments Petography for taking the candid photos of Jesse for me in the ring.

CH CoolWater's The Tide Is High

Show Report: Salisbury, MD

I’ve been very fortunate lately with one of Morgan’s puppies. Jesse, the girl who took Select Bitch at the National Show Specialty had a very good weekend in Salisbury, MD.

  • Friday, she took Best Opposite Sex (BOS) to earn herself her second major towards her Grand Championship.
  • Saturday, she took Select Bitch (Sel B) to earn herself her third major towards her Grand Championship.
  • Sunday, she took Best Opposite Sex (BOS) to ear herself her fourth major (I think I counted correctly) towards her Grand Championship.

Jesse was competing against other dogs that were considerably older and more mature than she is. Jesse just turned two the end of September and will specialed, out on the show circuit, in 2012. It’ll be interesting, and exciting, watching her accomplishments in the upcoming year.

In Huntsville, AL: under breeder/judge Nathanial Horn

Nova” – CoolWater’s SuperNova – took Best of Breed, earning herself a 3 pt. major. This was Nova’s second weekend in the ring. Her first weekend, she earned herself herself 2 pts. by going Winners Bitch each day.

Risk” – SHR CoolWater’s Out On a Limb JH – took Best Opposite Sex, earning himself a 3 pt. major as well. Risk currently has 10 points all earned by taking major wins.

It was a good weekend, indeed.

CoolWater's RipTide a Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Dock Diving Report: Orlando, FL

I had a great time this weekend attending the Ultimate Air Dogs competition in Orlando, FL. I took Jessie and Rip along for the fun.

They both did awesome but Jessie never ceases to amaze me. I believe she was the oldest dog entered and she was consistently making some pretty big jumps. In the end, she took 2nd in the Master’s division with a jump 21’9″.

Rip, came in 4th in the Senior division with a jump of 18’8″. This was his first dock diving event — heck, it was his first time ever jumping off a dock at all. As such, I’m very proud of him and how well he did. He LOVED the game, that’s for sure.

CoolWater's Wish Me Luck O' The Irish - Liam

Puppy Match: Titusville, FL

Today I attended a puppy match in Titusville, FL. I didn’t have any dogs entered, rather I went to support/see “Liam” (a Morgan x Bodie) puppy. Liam turned 1 yr. old on 10/7. I hadn’t seen him for several months (since May I think) and I wanted to see how he was maturing. Plus, he was entered in a number of activities including Rally and Pre-Novice obedience.

I was extremely pleased upon seeing Liam. Liam is a nice medium-sized dog with a thick course coat that is a rich dark brown color. His head is starting to broaden and he exudes intelligence in his expression. Although Liam still has much growing up to do, I was very happy with how he’s ‘looking’  for being barely a year old.

Even though Liam ‘looked good’ it was really his temperament that made me fall in love with him. He is as sweet as can be – with a temperament to die for! He was very attentitive to everything around him – always watching and observing. Although he was always happy to recieve attention from strangers, he was never pushy with them. I was also pleased to see how good he was with other dogs and with children as well.

Liam did an excellent job at the match where he took 2nd place in the Rally Novice class and 1st place in the pre-novice obedience  – with a score of 193! However, the icing on the cake came when Liam passed his third (and final) test in becoming a therapy dog with Therapy Dogs Inc. This was very sweet and important accomplishment for his owner, Sylvia.

Soon, Liam will be spending his Sunday mornings visiting hospitals, special needs centers, schools, and nursing homes spreading happiness and cheer to people, young and old alike.Needless to say, I’m very very proud of the two.

Show Report: 2011 Chesapeake National Show Specialty – Carlisle, PA

This weekend I attended the National Chesapeake Show Specialty in Carlisle, PA. Although I didn’t take any dogs up with me, Jesse, a Morgan x Nash puppy, was entered in the Best of Breed competition.  I’m very proud to announce that Jesse took the Select Bitch award. This is a very big win at one of the largest Chessie National Show Specialties in the history of the breed (over 400 entries). I couldn’t be more proud or excited about this young girl and the potential she shows.

Show Report: Tennessee

CH Jala's Misty Hill CoolWater Oak

CH Jala's Misty Hill CoolWater Oak

Today, I found out that CH Jala’s Misty Hill CoolWater Oak aka “Oak” earned a Group 3 placement in Tennessee under Judge Mrs. Carole Beattie. This was Oak’s first weekend out since June – where he earned both a Group 4 and Group 3 win. Not bad for a dog that’s not quite 2 yet.  We’re very excited to see how he does as he matures.

Oak is the littermate to our girl, Jesse, who has also done well – recently finishing with three majors – a 4 pt. major earned at a regional Speciality and two 5 pt. majors earned during an ACC Supported show weekend.
